Our Story · Opened July 2024

About Us

Nestled in the heart of Brighstone, 'Calon' means 'heart' in Welsh - a tribute to our warm atmosphere and central village location. Founded by Kizzie, with years in hospitality, we opened in July 2024 in a beautifully restored former newsagents. Our cosy bistro features a traditional thatched roof, exposed stonework, and stunning artwork by local illustrator Katy Rose. With pop-up evening events and holding an alcohol license, Calon Cafe & Bistro is a welcoming space for everyone to enjoy great food, drinks, and community spirit.

A Fresh Take on Dining

At Calon Cafe & Bistro, we redefine dining by blending classic flavours with a contemporary twist. Every single cake and bake on our counter is 100% homemade in-house, alongside our Famous homemade Fat Porkies (available to takeaway with flavours changing daily, or have in with homemade piccalilli) - plus our homemade Veggie Fibbers served with house red onion marmalade, and Gluten-Free (GF) options available at weekends — and our home-cooked Sunday Roast served every Sunday between October and April with proper homemade gravy. Each visit to Calon promises a fresh perspective on familiar favourites, turning every meal into a memorable culinary experience.
